The Salem Acme Kennel Club hosted a spectacular event on December 8, 2024—the 31st and 32nd Championship Pointed Dog Show. Held at the picturesque Little Flower Higher Secondary School in Four Roads, Salem, the show brought together passionate dog lovers, top-notch exhibitors, and esteemed judges for an unforgettable day dedicated to canine excellence.
The day began with an exceptional display of Indian hospitality and culture. The judges—Mrs. Tricia Cutler, Mrs. Julianne Keenan, and Mrs. Annette Bowe, all renowned all-breed judges from Australia—were warmly welcomed with shawls, garlands, and traditional music.
Upholding local traditions, this ceremonial gesture set the tone for an event that seamlessly blended professionalism with cultural richness.
Adding to the grandeur of the event, Tamil Nadu’s Tourism Minister, Mr. R. Rajendran, inaugurated the show by cutting the ceremonial ribbon.
The Minister, known for his keen interest in community events, took the time to observe the exhibits and gain a deeper understanding of how dog shows operate. His presence not only elevated the event’s significance but also drew the attention of media outlets, ensuring wide coverage.
The venue was abuzz with activity from the early hours. With participants arriving from various regions, the grounds were filled with dogs of various breeds, each groomed and trained to perfection. In addition to the competitive spirit in the rings, the event featured numerous attractions for visitors.
Pet businesses and stalls showcased a wide variety of products and services, including treats, grooming tools, merchandise, and innovative solutions for pet care. Food stalls catered to both pet parents and visitors, offering refreshments to beat the intense Salem heat. Audi, the luxury automobile brand, set up an impressive display zone, showcasing their latest car models and adding a unique flair to the event.
The judges, thrilled to be part of the Salem Dog Show, expressed their admiration for India, highlighting the country's warm people, diverse cuisine, and love for cricket. Their enthusiasm and praise for the participants and the organization added a special touch to the event.
The media presence was strong, with reporters and photographers capturing the event’s highlights.
This attention brought even more visibility to the Salem Dog Show, establishing it as one of the most professionally organized and widely recognized shows in the country.
The show itself was a spectacle of elegance and skill, with dogs competing across various categories. The lineup was nothing short of spectacular, showcasing some of the finest canine talents from across the region. Despite the sweltering heat, the show maintained an impeccable flow, thanks to the organizers’ meticulous planning and the judges’ efficiency in evaluating the entries.
Special recognition was given to junior handlers and the best handler of the show, with cash prizes awarded to celebrate their talent and dedication. These moments stood out as a testament to the club's commitment to nurturing the next generation of canine enthusiasts.
The Happy Pet team worked tirelessly throughout the event, covering every ring and capturing incredible footage for the aftermovie. In addition to filming the competition, the team conducted engaging interviews with pet parents, exhibitors, and organizers, preserving the vibrant energy of the day.
From the dazzling lineup of dogs to the enthusiastic support from pet parents and visitors, the Salem Dog Show was a feast for the senses. Smiles were abundant, and the atmosphere was filled with joy, camaraderie, and an undeniable love for dogs.
The 2024 Salem Dog Show was not just a competition; it was a celebration of community, culture, and the special bond between humans and their furry friends. With flawless execution, meaningful interactions, and an array of attractions, the event left participants and spectators with lasting memories and high expectations for future editions.
The Salem Dog Show once again proved why it is regarded as a premier event in the Indian canine community, setting the gold standard for professionalism, quality, and heartfelt celebration.
