Renowned industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata recently took to Instagram to share a heartfelt plea, seeking a blood donor for a critically ill puppy undergoing treatment at his pet hospital in Mumbai. The post, which has garnered over 3,600 comments, highlights the former chairman of Tata Group’s compassion for animals and his urgent call for assistance.
In the emotionally charged post, Tata revealed that the 7-month-old dog is suffering from suspected tick fever and life-threatening anaemia, conditions necessitating an immediate blood transfusion. “I would really appreciate your help. This 7-month-old dog at our animal hospital needs an urgent blood transfusion. He is admitted for suspected tick fever and life-threatening anaemia. We urgently need a dog blood donor in Mumbai,” Tata wrote.
The Instagram post included specific criteria for potential donors: the donor dog should be clinically healthy, aged between 1 to 8 years, weigh around 25 kg or more, be fully vaccinated and dewormed, and free from any major illness or history of tick fever in the past six months. Interested donors were requested to contact the hospital at +91 70218 50400.
The appeal has touched many hearts, with numerous Instagram users expressing their willingness to help. “A legend who doesn’t post for anything, posts for blood for a dog not even his own. If this isn’t a golden lesson in humility what is?” commented one user. Another wrote, “Hope that dog gets better and best treatment after all.. God bless this dog.. Big man with big heart.. Down to the earth Mr Ratan Tata sir. You are great. World needs more people like you.”
Ratan Tata's affection for dogs is well-documented. His empathetic approach toward animals is exemplified by his policies at the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai, where stray dogs are treated with kindness and care. A social media user recently shared a story of finding a dog peacefully sleeping at the entrance of the hotel, noting that the staff, following Tata’s instructions, were welcoming and considerate towards the animals.
This recent plea underscores Tata’s enduring commitment to animal welfare, as he continues to leverage his influence to foster compassion and support for those in need. His post not only highlights the immediate medical needs of the puppy but also serves as a reminder of the broader issue of animal healthcare and the importance of community support in such critical situations.
As the search for a suitable donor continues, the heartfelt responses from the public offer hope and a testament to the collective goodwill inspired by Tata’s sincere appeal.
