On Thursday, NALSAR University of Law and the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI), Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Members of civil society who assist the State Animal Welfare Boards and the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCAs) in their work to help animals will receive excellent, professional legal training as a result of the agreement.
Dr. Abhijit Mitra, Chairman of the AWBI, and Prof. Srikrishna Deva Rao, Vice Chancellor of NALSAR University, signed the Memorandum of Understanding.
Through their partnership, AWBI and NALSAR will be able to offer applicants for Honorary Animal Welfare Representatives (HAWRs) with AWBI specialist training and education.
According to the press release, the participants will get fundamental knowledge of animal welfare regulations, protocols, and investigative methods, among other related topics.
The training will be delivered in groups, with a capacity for 25 people per session and will be held over three days period.
The IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) for the course materials is exclusively given to NALSAR and AWBI will grant HAWR certifications to participants who effectively complete the training. This will be judged based on NALSAR's assessments.
From January 14–30, the AWBI will commemorate Animal Welfare Fortnight nationwide with events that showcase the diversity on earth and the importance of animals in our ecosystems.
