In a groundbreaking move towards safeguarding Delhi's four-legged residents, a significant milestone was achieved on April 27, 2024. One hundred dogs were equipped with QR-based 'Aadhaar cards' at strategic locations across the capital, including Delhi T1 Airport, India Gate, and Pawfriend.in, a prominent NGO dedicated to animal welfare.
Initiated under the leadership of Priya Chopra, Delhi chapter lead of Pawfriend.in, the campaign aims to provide a lifeline for the city's furry companions. The process commenced with the tagging of dogs, a vital step in preventing them from going astray. Reflecting on the importance of this endeavor, animal rights activist Manavi Rai expressed her delight, emphasizing the tags' role in ensuring the safety of these animals, especially during challenging times.
Pawfriend.in, known for its innovative approaches to animal welfare, envisions a safer and more compassionate environment for stray animals across India. With a mission to create a digitally empowered Bharat for all furry friends, the NGO has been at the forefront of various initiatives aimed at improving the lives of animals.
The QR-based 'Aadhaar cards' contain crucial information such as feeder details and emergency contacts, facilitating swift reunions between lost dogs and their caregivers. Priya Chopra shared a heartwarming anecdote about her own dog, Browine, whose timely reunion was made possible through Pawfriend.in's initiative.
Expressing gratitude for the initiative's launch in Delhi, Chopra stressed the importance of collective action in creating a safer environment for stray animals.
"It's a moment of joy for all animal lovers in Delhi as we embark on this journey towards a safer Bharat for our furry companions," - Priya Chopra, Pawfriend.in
Founder of Pawfriend.in, Akshay Ridlan, outlined the organization's ambitious plans for expansion, aiming to distribute ten times the current number of tags within the year. With such initiatives, Delhi takes a significant step towards ensuring the well-being and security of its beloved canine residents, setting an inspiring example for the nation.
