Phantom, a courageous Belgian Malinois with the Indian Army, tragically lost his life on Monday while assisting in an operation targeting terrorists near the Asan, Sunderbani sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
The operation followed an attack on an Army convoy in the region, after which forces launched a search effort that escalated into a gunfight.
Phantom, born on May 25, 2020, fearlessly engaged in the mission, ultimately drawing enemy fire as troops closed in on the suspects.
During the confrontation, the trapped terrorists opened fire, leading to Phantom sustaining fatal injuries.
The Indian Army’s White Knight Corps shared the news on the social media platform X, commemorating Phantom’s loyalty, bravery, and sacrifice. "We salute the supreme sacrifice of our true hero—a valiant Indian Army Dog, Phantom," they posted.
Phantom’s courage and commitment to duty have left an enduring mark on his team and the Indian Army.
