The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) celebrated Kukur Tihar, also known as the Festival of Dogs, in Bengaluru on Thursday. Kukur Tihar is a special festival from Nepal where people honor and worship dogs.

The event was organized to highlight the positive roles that dogs play in society and raise awareness about their importance. It aimed to change how people often think about dogs, focusing on their loyalty, obedience, and protective nature instead of just the fear of dog bites or attacks.

Suralkar Vikas Kishor, Special Commissioner of Health at BBMP, said in a press release that while it’s important to take steps to prevent conflicts between people and dogs, it’s equally important to celebrate the good things dogs bring to our lives.

The event was a way to show appreciation for dogs and raise awareness about their valuable contributions to the ecosystem and our communities.
