The Nandankanan Zoological Park in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha, India, welcomed four new tiger cubs recently. The cubs were born to a white tigress named Rupa. Their father is a melanistic (black) tiger named Krishna.
Zoo officials said the cubs are being watched by cameras to make sure they are healthy and safe. However, it's too early to tell if the cubs are male or female.
With these new arrivals, the Nandankanan Zoo now has a total of 27 tigers. This includes 17 normal-colored tigers, 7 white tigers, and 3 melanistic tigers.
In other animal news, a female cheetah at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh is pregnant. The state's Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav, announced this on social media. He expressed excitement about the upcoming cheetah cubs.
This is part of India's Cheetah Project, which was started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Chief Minister called this project "a symbol of a big achievement" and said it shows that the country's environment is improving.
Typically, news about the Cheetah Project is first shared by the central government. But in this case, the state's Chief Minister was the first to announce the cheetah's pregnancy.
