Hyderabad’s government superspeciality veterinary hospital at Narayanguda is currently dealing with an influx of pet-related cases. This primarily due to weather-induced illnesses. After the heavy rains earlier this week, the hospital has seen an increase in footfall.
The hospital has around 200 to 250 cases being reported daily. This is a significant rise from the usual 120 to 150 cases.
As reported by Deccan Chronicle, hospital data showed 216 cases on Tuesday and 220 on Wednesday. The spike is being linked to the recent change in weather, including continuous drizzle and rising humidity.
These conditions are contributing to various health issues in pets, such as respiratory and gastrointestinal problems. Neglecting minor injuries can also lead to complications like maggot wounds.
Experts warn pet owners to be cautious, particularly with young animals. Pets are advised to avoid exposure to inclement weather and receive professional care when signs of illness appear.
Additionally, easily digestible food and regular vaccinations are essential in preventing further health complications.
With a potential rise in vector-borne diseases, pet owners are urged to remain vigilant, especially during the ongoing monsoon season.
